It is with my pleasure that I am able to announce that I was conferred as a board member of ALIVE. A non-profit organization also known as Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments. During the course of my life domestic violence has touched me the same as many others. It will be my goal to utilize my business acumen to assist ALIVE in continued growth and expansion.

ALIVE (Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments) was founded in 1983 through the shared vision of two women with graduate degrees from Washington University who worked as advocates for battered women. Aware of the critical need for safe shelter for women and children victimized by domestic violence in St. Louis, they decided to fill the existing void in services. To this day ALIVE is a thriving 501 c(3) organization that offers a multitudes of services and programs.ALive2.jpg

The reality of domestic abuse is that is often experienced outside of the public view; as such the awareness is often overlooked by those who have not experienced it

According to the Uniform Crime Statistics in 2013 St.Louis City/County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and Franklin County law enforcement would respond to nearly 10,000 domestic violence calls. The U.S Department of Justice estimates that more than 40% of all domestic violence is unreported.

A few examples of the services provided by ALIVE include:
24-hour crisis line • Emergency Transportation • Individual and Group Adult Counseling • a Children’s Treatment Program • Court Advocacy • Community Education and Outreach
